Brian K. Rice: “You can use your imperfect life to make someone else better”

“What if you reached the idea of success that the majority expected out of you and you were the best? You dropped out of school. You got involved in the drug game.  You became one of the most notorious of thugs you could be. You slept with as many people as you could and had multiple unplanned babies. You never left your poverty. You got your rims & you never picked up a book. You never took pride in your education or your character. ”

This is why we must give back. This is why we must give the next generation a view of another world. This is why it is important to go and talk to our youth. You don’t have to be a great presenter. We just need your example. You can be shy if that is your personality, but in the end, we need you to take a moment out every once and while and show the next generation that there is someone just like them who became successful despite the media and despite the odds.

Today, I received the opportunity to speak to about 20 African American & Hispanic teens and I am glad that I can use my imperfect life to make them better.
